Lahore: Nearly 6700 Sikh Yatrees have reached Pakistan via the Wagha border crossing today, to take part in the Vaisakhi celebrations and the 326th Khalsa Birth Anniversary celebrations. The Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kheal Das Kohistani, along with the Pardhan of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and other Sikh community leaders, warmly received the Sikh Yatrees.
According to Radio Pakistan, the main ceremony of the Vaisakhi Mela is scheduled to be held at Nankana Sahib on Monday. The Minister of State for Religious Affairs, while speaking to newsmen at the Wagha Border, emphasized that Sikh Yatrees from around the world are arriving in Pakistan without fear to visit their sacred places of worship.
The visiting Yatrees have been divided into two groups for the pilgrimage. The first group will visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal, while the second group will proceed to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur. Both groups are expected to arrive at Gurdwara Janam Asthan, Nankana Sahib tomorrow.
