Karachi, March 31, 2015 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for local government and information Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday demolished more than a dozen marriage halls in district Korangi constructed illegally at playgrounds and state land. Minister on the occasion also demolished an illegal water factory constructed at a land of park.
Memon on the spot pledged that now no illegal construction would be allowed on state lands and encroachments from the city would be removed completely and said this campaign of removal of encroachments would continue.
He said there are reports that criminals and terrorists are taking advantage from the income of these illegal marriage halls. He said action against the ghost employees in KMC has been started and more than ten employees have been terminated from their jobs.
Minister said those employees were involved in terrorist activities and arrested by police and Rangers. He said a jehad has been started against the ghost employees. It may be noted here that Minister has launched a campaign for the removal of encroachments from the city and state land amenity plots occupied illegally by land grabbers.
He said such campaign has been started from February 23 and government was determined for peaceful and green Sindh and for this purpose a cleanliness campaign and plantation of trees was launched all over Sindh including Karachi.
During the campaign of demolition of marriage halls, area people gathered and hailed the campaign and urged the minister to continue this operation. Minister addressing the people said Karachi operation or operation by KMC is not against any political party or person but against those who are danger for this city and country.
He said 10 persons belonging to local government department have been arrested by Rangers and police who were involved In terrorism and bhatta khoree and more than 103 persons in the same department have been removed from the jobs. He further said a list of ghost employees have been prepared and very soon action would be taken against them. These ghost employees would be terminated, he said.
He said main theme and objective if such operations is to provide a sigh of relief to the people of this province and city. He said government wanted to make Karachi a lightning city again. Replying to a question he said not a single person or any political party has right to make its office on state land and has asked such political parties to remove their offices from such lands.
He said an injustice was done with the youths of this city when the playgrounds and parks were encroached or allotted and now such illegal act would not be allowed. Minister was accompanied by KMC administrator Saqib Soomro, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Metropolitan commissioner Karachi Masood Alam, DC Korangi Asif Jan Siddiqui, Administrator Korangi Abdul Rashid and others.
